Rhubarb Mulled Wine

Introducing Rhubarb Mulled Wine, the perfect warm and cozy drink for the coldest winter days.

Flavour Profile: Fruity, Herbaceous, Sweet

Difficulty: Medium

Cocktail Ingredients:

  • 1x 750 mL Bottle of your Favorite Orange or Rose Wine
  • 6 oz Sheringham Fresh Rhubarb Liqueur
  • 9.5 oz Rhubarb Syrup*
  • 4-5 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 4 Anise Pods
  • 4 Lemon Peels

*Rhubarb syrup method:

120g fresh or frozen rhubarb, 10g fresh ginger (wash first, no need to peel), 200g water, 200g sugar, 1⁄2 tsp vanilla extract, pinch of ground cardamom, pinch of salt, 1 tsp fresh lemon juice. Add all indredients to a saucepan and simmer on medium heat till the rhubarb is very soft and begins to fall apart, about 7 minutes.

Cocktail Method:

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and turn on low-medium heat. Steep, but do not boil, for 10 minutes. FIne strain back into a saucepan and reheat to desired serving temperature – be sure the mixture does not come to a boil. Serve hot in clear glass mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks and lemon wheels.

You can currently find Nicole behind the bar at Woodwork and Bar Henry in Edmonton, where she's always experimenting and creating new cocktails for herself and guests.
